Accountant (Accountancy Practice)

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Client:

Our client is a well-established and independent accountancy practice based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. They provide a wide range of accountancy, tax, and business advisory services to a diverse client base, including SMEs, sole traders, and partnerships. With a focus on building lasting client relationships and delivering a personalised, high-quality service, the firm is looking to expand their team with an experienced Accountant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Management: Oversee and manage a portfolio of clients, offering expert advice on accounting, taxation, and compliance matters.
  • Accounts Preparation: Prepare statutory accounts, management accounts, and financial statements for a variety of clients.
  • Taxation: Complete corporate and personal tax returns, advising clients on tax planning and compliance strategies.
  • Bookkeeping & VAT: Ensure timely and accurate bookkeeping and VAT return preparation.
  • Advisory Services: Provide financial insight and advisory services to clients to support their business growth and decision-making.
  • Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant tax and accounting regulations, ensuring that all client filings are completed accurately and on time.
  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the key point of contact for all accounting matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ACCA, ACA, or equivalent accountancy qualification (fully or part qualified).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
  • Excellent understanding of UK accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage a client portfolio and work autonomously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
